Sheena and Nick of Huntsville have one of the best engagement stories I’ve ever heard. Nick flew Sheena to Denver for a romantic getaway, planning to propose. But when they got there, the whole place was crawling with –get this–zombies. Yes, on the most important weekend of their lives, Denver was home to a national zombie crawl.
If you’re not up on it (and Nick and Sheena weren’t at that point), a zombie crawl is an organized public gathering of thousands of people dressed in extreme zombie costumes. They make their way around in unison, moaning, limping and dribbling trails of fake blood. Think the set of Thriller, on every street, in the restaurants, on the shuttle buses, everywhere. That October 2010 zombie crawl at Skyline Park would end up setting a new Guinness Book world record with more than 7,000 undead in attendance.
Poor Nick scrambled for a back-up plan, so he suggested dinner at the upscale restaurant at their hotel–but Sheena was tired, freaked out from zombies and wondering why Nick was acting so strangely. She even accused him of planning to break up with her! Needless to say, he wasn’t, they didn’t, she said yes and now we’re going to photograph their classic Southern wedding at Carraway Davie House in June.
On a much prettier note, things kicked off this month with a gorgeous, ghoul-free engagement photo session at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I can tell you now, we’re going to have some gorgeous wedding photos, folks. Here’s a sneak peek of their photos:
