We meet some amazing people in the course of our wedding photography. Two of the most fun in 2010 were Kristie and John, who were part of the wonderful Greek wedding we photographed last summer, of Jennifer and James. John is James’ brother, and the couple were in the wedding party.

Earlier this year we got a note from Kristie, asking us if we would do the honor of photographing their maternity session, in anticipation of their first child, John William! Now, these two had a great wedding photographer of their own, so you can imagine how honored we were that they chose us for their maternity photographs. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and the Birmingham Botanical Gardens was in full bloom.

Little John William is in for a ball with these two as his parents. They are so funny, so relaxed, so great. John had some terrific photo ideas and Kristie was even climbing up on walls (with all of us guarding her closely) to capture the coolest shots. We love this preview of the maternity photos and can’t wait to meet John William.

We told them we’d love to come meet the little guy within about 2-4 weeks of his arrival–that’s one of the coolest times to photograph a newborn, while he’s still “bendy” and posable. Plus, the parents are still awash in that new baby glow and not too exhausted from lack of sleep yet!

Is there anything cuter than a baby girl in fabulous clothes? Little Maggie Mitchell is adorable enough on her own,

but her mom/stylist Shelly brought an amazing selection of clothes and props fit for any pint-sized diva (and perfect for the camera). And what a fun day of dress up for a photographer! The best part was cuddling her between takes. What a little angel. Can’t wait to capture this little superstar as she grows!

Thanks so much to Maggie’s aunt, Cathy Alexander, for recommending us and letting us use her beautiful home for the Daniel Taylor Photography Mobile Studio. Cathy is mom to one of our favorite grooms of all time, Jason Sandlin. Jason’s wife, Mallory, and daughter, Addison, joined us for a second photo shoot the same morning. Stay tuned for those beautiful images, which are soon to come.
