One thing is for sure, it takes a great team to pull off the amazing weddings Daniel Taylor Photography gets to be a part of. All of our clients’ fabulous ceremonies, engagement sessions, and bridal portraits wouldn’t be half as perfect as they are without the help of a few awesome vendors. Today, we want to highlight a fierce hair and make-up guru and our dear friend, Melissa Moore Bogardus of Joyce’s Formals Salon and her incredible team. Melissa is extremely talented in her craft, and we admire how much she listens–really listens– to her clients. She has amazing range, diversity, and personalizes each look for the specific bride and bridal party, so everyone is at their best, but not identical. Melissa is Alabama Weddings magazine trusted go-to stylist for photo sessions, and we even put our own looks in her hands when it’s our turn in front of the camera! It’s no secret I’m known to be particularly picky, and Melissa and her team have exceeded my expectations every time, personally and with our clients. Those great Facebook and blog photos of me? Yep, that’s Melissa.

And we know now that the first 20 minutes after Melissa leaves, our brides, their moms and other trusted confidantes will be singing her praises. Folks, in this business, that doesn’t happen often!

Birmingham Wedding at Samford’s Reid Chapel & Veranda on Highland

Daniel Taylor Photography was oh-so-lucky to be a part of Danielle and Stephen’s exciting wedding day in Birmingham, Ala.! The couple had a gorgeous ceremony at Samford University’s Reid Chapel, then traveled over to Veranda on Highland Restaurant for a gorgeous, fun reception with family and friends. A big thank you to event planner, designer, and Veranda event coordinator Ginny Au from Bits & Bobs Events for her awesome work! The modern vintage style and decor at the reception went perfectly with the couple’s romantic vineyard engagement session, which was featured on the Love and Lavender wedding blog. We love how creative Ginny’s weddings are, and couldn’t be more grateful for her recommendation. Last but not least, thank you to Melissa Moore Bogardus and her team from Joyce’s Formals Salon who continue to delight us and most importantly, our brides, with amazing hair and make-up artistry exquisitely personalized to their style and wishes.

We also have to brag on the amazing food served at Veranda on Highland. Let’s just say we were in a food coma for days! The couple’s reception also featured delicious specialty drinks by mixologist, Angel. Guests couldn’t stop praising his incredible concoctions. The day’s lovely flowers were provided by our friend Carol Riley of Lillie’s.

Get ready, we’re taking you on a quick flashback today! We’ve been to many a rehearsal dinner, but being a part of Mary Katherine and Paul’s warm Park Lane celebration was an absolute pleasure. Friends and family gathered to honor the gorgeous couple with great food, laughter, and extreme excitement for the festivities ahead. As you know, Park Lane is a favorite venue of Daniel Taylor Photography, and deservedly, is one of the most sought-after venues in Birmingham. Mary Katherine and Paul’s dinner was no exception, with outstanding food, a great atmosphere, and terrific service that is always a talking point with out-of-town guests.

We have to send a big thank you to Park Lane owner, Kathy G, for her delicious catering (we can still taste those mini crab cakes!) and Mary Jones of Park Lane, who not only is exceptional at keeping things running smoothly, but always takes such good care of us.

We first met Summer and her mom, Bonnie, at the 2010 Soho Bridal Show, where they were looking for wedding photographers for their wedding in Birmingham. Bonnie had flown in for the occasion and the pair were working to put together Summer’s wedding to her fiance, Chris. The two had great taste but the special stress of planning a wedding and sit-down dinner for so many out-of-town guests called for professional help. So I immediately sent them to M. Elizabeth Events for reinforcements from Meghan Cease and her team.

Summer has a love of glamour that was a perfect fit for M. Elizabeth Events. Check out Summer’s Jimmy Choos adorned with her wedding rings! The wedding was at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church in downtown Birmingham, and the reception was at the always-stunning Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort in Hoover, Ala., a fantastic and photogenic place for weddings and receptions. And we LOVE the service they provide in planning and during the actual event. I had no idea about their in-house ice sculptures and ice luges until this wedding.

The terrific vendor team also included a stunning gown from Bella Couture bridal salon in Mt Laurel, incredible videographer Lance Holloway of Holloway Productions, and Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market, whom I love for the variety, quality and stunning color, and also because the flowers are always super, super fresh and are gorgeous long past the end of the reception. Not so for all flowers, btw, if they are not stored in a pro-grade cooler. Evelyn Criswell’s wedding cakes wowed everyone and wedding band II Da Maxx kept the party going all night.

There were so many wonderful touches for the event, which is something wedding planners are terrific at helping with. There were baskets of flipflops in the restrooms for guests to put on and dance, their were leather luggage tag gifts for each guests, and wonderful welcome bags for the out-of-towners.

Y’all should know by now that we’re wedding obsessed. At Daniel Taylor Photography, it’s stunning brides, festive receptions, and gorgeous engagements all day, every day! Which is why we are so excited to share a something a little different today: Ashley and Grant’s family lifestyle photo session. We met Ashley and Grant a few years back, when they booked us for their engagement session at Sloss Furnaces shortly before their Carolina mountain wedding ceremony. They are truly one of the sweetest couples ever. And their son Jude is simply adorable. How can you resist those cute, curly locks? We photographed the family Easter morning at their beautiful home in Crestwood. We all wanted something real and genuine, and decided their Birmingham house was the perfect fit. We were thrilled to hear the couple moved back to Birmingham last summer, after Grant became the new director of Jones Valley Urban Farms, and were honored to have the opportunity to capture the family in their element. Jones Valley Farm is one of our favorite places in B-ham. They provide awesome educational programs for kids on nutrition and agriculture. The fresh eggs we used in the session were straight from Jones Valley’s chickens!

It’s no secret that we love our clients. We’d say they’re pretty much the best in the world. In having the privilege to work with so many awesome people, we at Daniel Taylor Photography think it is so important to show off how genuine and real each couple is. It is super frustrating to browse other wedding blogs and web sites, and see weddings that look almost identical. When it looks as though you could just change out the heads from one wedding to the next and not be able to tell a difference, we cringe just a little.

One thing we pride ourselves on is capturing emotion-filled, candid moments of our couples. A loving look, playful kiss, or genuine laugh can tell so much about the bond between two people. We stray away from the one-size-fits-all formula so that we can show what is authentic to each couple. No cheesy awkward poses here! Daniel Taylor Photography had the pleasure of photographing the absolutely stunning wedding of Allison and Alan last night. To give you a sneak peek at the loveliness to come, today we’re featuring Allison’s breathtaking bridal photos at her mother-in-law’s Shoal Creek home.

Alan and Allison are an awesome couple. He’s a doctor and she’s a nurse (how cute is that?!), and we couldn’t be more excited for them to start the next chapter of their medical careers in Jackson, Mississippi. In working with the pair, we were struck by their strong Christian faith and how it seems to guide so much of what they do.

This was also a special wedding for us because Alan is the brother of our great friend Meghan Cease of M Elizabeth Events. We couldn’t be more grateful to Meghan for trusting us with her brother’s big day! It’s always an honor when vendors choose us for their own family members, since they see so many photographers first-hand. When I began working with Daniel Taylor Photography, I was looking to expand my professional experience in social media and with being a recent college graduate, I’ll admit, a little extra income. What I didn’t expect was how great of an experience it would turn out to be. Within the past five months of working with the husband and wife duo, I’ve had the chance to get an inside prospective on the company. I can honestly say I’ve been blown away by their business practices. Not only does the team take amazing photos and work tirelessly, but they are also truly genuine people who care deeply for their clients. Whether it’s a gorgeous bridal portrait session in downtown Birmingham or an elaborate wedding that requires them to travel, Kelli and Daniel Taylor specialize in making wedding photography a positive and rewarding experience for the couple. They understand that while planning a wedding can be stressful, making a commitment with someone you love is a beautiful thing! And no one captures that love through photography better than DTP.

In having the privilege of writing numerous blog posts and preparing gorgeous photos, I’ve gotten a first-hand look at some of Daniel Taylor Photography’s breathtaking work. I’m a bit of a wedding blog junkie, and have to say that DTP is one of the best I’ve seen at capturing candid emotion. A couple’s first look, a bride before the ceremony, a couple’s whimsical, puppy-filled engagement session–it’s these special moments caught on film that a husband and wife will have to cherish forever. If that’s not the mark of a greatly skilled photographer, I don’t know what is. They also have an astounding eye for detail. With every wedding they photograph, I feel as though I was there–a perfect visual scrapbook. Here are a few of my absolute favorites:

Although I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting my soul mate yet for my own special day, I would jump at the chance to recommend Daniel Taylor Photography to anyone who is ready to tie the knot. Raised just outside of Music City (Nashville), in charming Franklin, Tenn., Rachel Bertone is a true Southerner. With a love love of magazines, writing and the ever-growing world of social media, she graduated from Elon University in North Carolina with a degree in journalism. From there, she spent a year at Time Inc.’s Southern Progress Corp., here in Birmingham, working in the Lifestyle Digital department on sites including Southern Living.com, Coastal Living.com and Sunset.com.

Seriously y’all, the thrill of being featured on another wonderful wedding blog never gets old! Daniel Taylor Photography is beyond excited to have Anne-Michelle and James’ sweet southern fete on the Glamour and Grace wedding blog. Thanks so much to the awesome Megan for featuring us on her gorgeous blog!

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the elegant outdoor affair at the lovely Sonnet House. Tasty food was catered by Cafe Iz, with wonderfully delicious cakes from our friends at Dreamcakes. Gorgeous flowers from Flowerbuds added to the classic scene, while guests couldn’t get enough of the photo booth from Total Entertainment.

Anne-Michelle and James celebrated their reception in an Old Hollywood style, complete with a lavish vintage getaway car from Vintage Auto. A huge thanks to Megan of Glamour and Grace for sharing our work! Birmingham, AL Wedding Photography at Our Lady of the Valley

Daniel Taylor Photography was honored to photograph the wedding of Tara and Shaun. The had their wedding at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, and the whole event was brimming over with love from family and friends. You could just feel it.

Tara and Shaun are one of those couples you adore from the second you meet them. Shaun is the super-outgoing one and Tara is the more mellow one. Together, they have a balance in the relationship to go the distance.

These two are crazy about football and about their two dogs. Y’all know how we love dogs! Their pooches even helped Shaun to propose, with engraved messages on their collar tags. Be sure to check out their engagement photos with the dogs at Tannehill State Park.

Boy, do these two love photos. When we showed up for the wedding, we saw a beautiful collage photo frame with something like 18 photos from our engagement session with them, which included the pups. Shaun told me it was one of the first things they put up in their new home. It’s such a profound honor to be selected by engaged couples who truly appreciate what you do, and we’re so grateful for that.

The vendor team also included DJ and company owner Danny Brewer, from Feel the Beat Entertainment as well as Christian Catering and Johnny Rockett Video.
