Published: Daniel Taylor Photography on WedLuxe Wedding Blog

We’re unbelievably proud to announce that Daniel Taylor Photography has been featured on another fabulous wedding blog! Summer and Chris’ luxurious affair appeared on the WedLuxe wedding blog earlier this year in May. The feeling of accomplishment when we see our work on a national website is overwhelming every time!

Summer and Chris held an absolutely stunning wedding at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church and an over-the-top reception at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort in Hoover, Ala. Our wonderful friend and talented wedding planner, Meghan Cease of M. Elizabeth Events coordinated the event when we sent Summer her way. Summer and Meghan share a love of glamour, and the day was overflowing with it!

Colorful, fresh blooms from Dorothy McDaniel’s Flower Market decorated the church and reception area, and guests were treated to tasty wedding cake by Evelyn Criswell. Wedding band II Da Maxx kept the bride and groom moving all night, while incredible Holloway Productions caught the whole thing.

We loved being a part of this sophisticated wedding! Check out Summer and Chris’ playful engagement session in downtown Birmingham, Ala.

Wedding Vendor Spotlight: Karrie York of Rosewood Hall

Rosewood Hall

Karrie York, event director at Rosewood Hall, looks summery sitting on a bench at SoHo Square in Homewood, Ala. Photo by Daniel Taylor Photography.

Rosewood Hall at SoHo in Homewood, Ala. is a great wedding venue that we at Daniel Taylor Photography would be happy to recommend any day. The chic location and terrific service are top-notch. But we know that without awesome people working their tails off behind the scenes, venues wouldn’t be half as amazing as they are. That’s where Karrie York comes in. As Rosewood Hall’s event director, Karrie is consistently diligent on creating the perfect day for clients and making sure everything runs smoothly. And after seeing her work, we’ll say she’s pretty darn good at it!

We’ve gotten to know Karrie better over the past year and can attest to what a genuine, professional and sweet person she is. Plus, she’s risen to become one of the youngest event directors in town! She’s become a fan of our work as well, which gets us super excited! In fact, we were more than flattered when Karrie decorated her office with one of our photos after becoming events director at Rosewood Hall. Rosewood Hall as also used a Daniel Taylor Photography photo in some of their print advertisements. We were so flattered when Karrie  asked us to photograph some head shots for her, which turned out beautifully. How could they not?

Thanks for all your hard work Karrie! We look forward to working with you even more in the future.

Favorite Wedding Venues: The Stables at Russell Crossroads

The Stables Lake Martin

The Stables at Russell Crossroads near Lake Martin were a gorgeous setting for romantic wedding bouquets by Lillie's. Daniel Taylor Photography.

A little while back, Daniel Taylor Photography wanted to scout a fairly new wedding venue at Lake Martin, The Stables at Russell Crossroads. We’ve got a wedding there in September, so we’re not going to show you all the photo ops just yet, but we decided to do a little photography with some help from our wonderful friend Carol Harris Riley of Lillie’s Flowers. Y’all who follow us will remember that the wedding event goddess for The Stables and other Lake Martin Russell Lands venues, Emily Lewis McDaniel, was one of our November 2011 brides. Her husband, Rob McDaniel, is the executive chef at the  sister property, SpringHouse restaurant, which is one of our favorite places EVER for wedding events. We’re even fortunate enough to be featured in Emily’s brochures for Lake Martin-area brides! So appreciative of Emily and Michelle at SpringHouse for their support of us.

If there’s one name among Birmingham wedding vendor professionals that is synonymous with romantic, dreamy florals is Carol Harris Riley of Lillie’s. Whether it’s vintage, country Southern, or English countryside, Carol’s wedding bouquets are always a hit with brides and their bridesmaids. I knew Carol would be great for designing bridal bouquets that were a perfect fit for color and texture at The Stables and I was right. Her taste in color and texture for these kinds of venues, especially, makes her in hot demand, especially for these kinds of venues.

Another  reason so many people love Carol is that she is genuinely, totally and completely into her clients’ weddings and her excitement is simply contagious.
And instead of just one bouquet, Carol loaded me up with two gorgeous creations. Then she proceeded to share some wonderful secrets for “styling” a bouquet photo session. Long story short, I left with a trunk full of gorgeous rustic chic props, a lace tablecloth, a lovely wire basket of pastel-colored eggs from J&D Farms in Pelham, spritzers bottles and a primer on keeping the blooms fresh for the 90-minute drive. How can you not love that??
Confession: I did not realize the eggs were real until two days later on another photo shoot. I drove around with eggs in my trunk for about four days. Thankfully, none of them cracked!!
Let us know what you think!

The Stables at Russell Crossroads has so many cool rustic elements, like this basket of cotton, a sweet spot for the white, green and blue wedding bouquet by Lillie's. Daniel Taylor Photography.

Aren't these subtle, natural elements pretty for a country, barn or rustic chic wedding? Daniel Taylor Photography. Florals by Lillie's. Emily from The Stables really liked the bouquet in the basket of cotton.

No, I didn't realize those eggs behind the pastel bouquet were real until about four days after this photo shoot. Sigh. Daniel Taylor Photography. Florals and styling props by Lillie's.

Daniel Taylor Wedding Photo Trend: Destination Weddings

Daniel Taylor Photography can’t say enough good things about our wonderful hometown of Birmingham, Ala, but one of the absolute best parts of our job is getting to travel all over the Southeast and beyond to capture gorgeous weddings! Whether we’re headed to the bustling, soulful city of New Orleans, or an easygoing beach wedding on the Florida coast getaway of Alys Beach, we love seeing new places and using the surroundings to take fabulous photos. Destination engagements and weddings are tons of fun for the bride and groom, too! Some couples choose locations where they already had a connection to the city, while others pick places they’ve always wanted to go to. It can make an exciting wedding day that much more special and an extra treat for family. Truth be told, it’s also sometimes nice to pick neutral ground for families who live in different cities — takes away some stress.

Here’s a look at some of Daniel Taylor Photography’s favorite destination weddings and engagements:

What's an NYC engagement without a dip in Times Square?! Photo by Daniel Taylor Photography.

We were beyond stoked to fly to the fabulous New York City for a destination engagement session with one of our 2011 couples, S.E. and T.Z. This travel-loving duo wanted an engagement session in NYC, but were married in Birmingham. They were such a creative pair, and a total pleasure to work with. We buzzed all around the big apple to find the perfect photo spots, and Daniel showed off some of his best skills with the night session. Pretty cool, huh?

Heather and John had their wedding ceremony and engagement session in historic New Orleans, La. The gorgeous engagement session was in NOLA’s famous French Quarter and Garden District, while the wedding was held at New Orleans City Park. Honestly y’all, it couldn’t have been more beautiful! Despite the heat, Heather and John were so great to work with, and we loved being a part of their wedding. The photos turned out great, and the couple’s lovely nuptials ended up on national wedding blog, Glamour and Grace.

For Emily and Blane’s wedding, we headed to Florida’s amazing Emerald Coast, to Alys Beach, which is about half an hour west of Panama City Beach. With the sprawling sand and crystal blue ocean, Alys Beach is a perfect spot for a beach ceremony, and Emily and Blane were such awesome clients. Even when a storm rolled in on their big day, it didn’t keep them from having fun and really enjoying themselves. And they’re crazy dog people, just like us! How could we not love them?! Their destination Alys Beach wedding and Fonville Press reception was published on the online version of Florida Bride Magazine!

Paige and Brent’s destination wedding in Lake Martin, Ala. at the Children’s Harbor Lighthouse was such a fun, easy celebration. The lake itself provided a prime backdrop for gorgeous wedding pictures. Paige looked stunning on her big day, and the couple’s lighthearted reception at The Ridge Club made the trip more than worthwhile!

The most recent destination wedding for DTP was Holly and Murray’s fairytale ceremony and reception at The Grand Hotel and Resort in Point Clear, Ala. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the seaside soiree. Holly and Murray are so obviously in love, it made our job even easier to capture heartfelt, memorable moments of the lovebirds. The lush scenery of The Grand and the beautiful ocean in the background made for absolutely stunning images.
