So it’s a pretty cool day when you hear the news that a Kelli + Daniel Taylor Photography, LLC, groom is a semifinalist for an incredibly prestigious James Beard Foundation chef’s award.
Chef Rob McDaniel is one of our 2011 grooms, a fabulous fete with I Do! I Do! Wedding Planing featuring his Pinterest sesation bacon groom’s cake by Dreamcakes. He’s also the talent behind one of Alabama’s best restaurants, SpringHouse restaurant in Alex City. The news was announced that the James Beard Foundation has named him a semifinalist for Best Chef in the South region. Read the complete media release here.
Daniel has photographed Rob at the restaurant several times for magazine articles and Kelli has written stories about him, but one of our favorite experiences was when he and his awesome wife, Emily, a sales an marketing rock star, invited us to their lakefront home for dinner and a peek into their off time. We also combined that with an anniversary photo session. Needless to say, it was one of the best meals of our lives. And we loved cuddling on Miss Lilly!
Meanwhile, our drama queen basset hound Scarlett piddled on the McDaniels’ living room rug and barked mercilessly while we tried to visit. They were beyond gracious and made us feel like it REALLY wasn’t a big deal. The McDaniels are good people, y’all.
We wish Rob all the best in the final round of the competition. He is truly an Alabama treasure.
